Sometimes you need a tinkerer with a mind always leaping to the next invention. While one might argue that Thomas Edison set the standard for this, it’s worth considering that I can hold my own against him. In 1962, I invented the technology that is used in more than 90% of all microphones today. Two hundred and fifty-eight patents later, I invented a way to electrospin piezoelectric fibers and use them in the production of microphones for the Navy. As a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Johns Hopkins, I co-founded DiPole Materials at the age of 84. As a member of the National Inventors Hall of Fame, I am always looking for a new challenge and you should take me up on it.
