Assistant Professor in Textile Technology
Dr. Ericka Ford is an Assistant Professor within NC State’s College of Textiles (COT). She holds a joint appointment in the Department of Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Science and The Nonwovens Institute.
Prior to joining the College of Textiles, Dr. Ford served as a National Research Council postdoctoral awardee in Chemical and Biological Defense, Science and Technology at the US Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center. Her research is in the area of “Engineered Surfaces & Interphases” for high strength, high modulus nanocomposite fibers; nonwovens as protective barrier textiles and therapeutics; and sustainable finishes and coating technologies for value-added textiles.
Dr Ford holds a PhD in Textiles and Fiber Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology; a MS in Polymer Science from the University of Southern Mississippi; and BS in Polymer Fiber Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
